EIG 2019 1 Day Meeting Fast Approaching
This CPD 1-day seminar was held 0n 19th June 2019 at the Stratford Manor Hotel, Warwickshire.
‘Quarry and Surface Mine Geotechnics’.
Close to 110 delegates were in attendance and the meeting followed a format of presentations and topic driven interactions with the audience.
In 2013, 2015 and 2017 the EIG held successful one day technical meetings in Warwickshire covering in detail 3 of the 4 main topic areas which are generally included in our 2 day Conferences. So far we have covered geotechnics, hydrogeology, exploration and investigations. As previously the intention is to have invited keynote speakers who are recognised authorities in their subject areas.
The 2019 speakers included;
Cath Pickett (Health & Safety Executive)
Prof John Coggan (Camborne School of Mines)
Dr Alan Cobb (GWP Consultants)
Thomas Clifford (Atkins)
Steve Mathews (Hanson)
Dr Dave Jameson (GWP Consultants)
The final programme is still available.
As 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the Quarries Regulations it is poignant that we reflected on that and looked to the future. The meeting covered legislation, state of the art practice and recent developments but also considered in detail the Regulations, their adequacy and implementation in practice.
Venue: The 4 Star Stratford Manor Hotel is located about 5km south of Junction 15 of the M40 in Warwickshire, postcode CV37 0PY.
